Michael Hood’s expertise is business litigation. Mr. Hood concentrates his practice in the areas of contract disputes and business torts arising in industries as varied as construction, healthcare, real estate and franchise. He represents clients in litigation matters on both sides of the docket in the courtroom, arbitrations and mediations. He regularly appears before Texas state and federal courts for bench and jury trials. He argues appeals at the Texas state courts of appeals and the Fifth Circuit. He has significant experience in arbitrations before the AAA, AHLA, JAMS, ICDR, and CPR Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution. He is passionate yet tempered to litigate disputes effectively taking into account client objectives, risk assessment and cost containment.
Mr. Hood obtained his undergraduate degree at Stanford University. He attended the SMU Dedman School of Law on full academic scholarship and served on law review. He started his legal practice at a Dallas-based international law firm where he practiced for 30 years, 20 years as partner. He joined Shamoun & Norman in May 2022.
Mr. Hood’s community involvement includes the Dallas Regional Chamber’s Leadership Dallas, Court Appointed Special Advocates, and Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program. Before law school, he was a professor of English as a second language (ESL) at Universitas Padjadjaran, in Bandung, Indonesia.
