Russ DePalma is a Senior Attorney at Shamoun & Norman, LLP. He is an appellate and complex commercial case litigator, business attorney, and the former general counsel of his family’s own startup. Russ has been a commercial litigator for more than 20 years and has experience in intellectual property, securities, administrative, and constitutional litigation. His appellate resume includes handling more than 50 appeals before state, federal and administrative appellate tribunals in the United States, and assisting on an appeal that went to both the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom (formerly the “Law Lords”). In addition to oral arguments and brief writing, he has experience with error preservation, jury charge preparation and advocacy, and post-trial proceedings. He has worked on interlocutory and mandamus appeals, written amicus curiae briefs, and prepared petitions for review to the Texas Supreme Court and the U.S. Supreme Court. Russ is admitted in the Northern, Eastern, and Southern Districts of Texas, in the Fifth, Ninth, and Federal Circuit Courts of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Mr. DePalma received his B.A. from the University of Virginia and his J.D. from the Vanderbilt University School of Law. He has been a member of both the State Bar of Texas and the New York Bar since 1996.
Prior to joining Shamoun & Norman, LLP, Mr. DePalma worked for notable Dallas-area litigation boutiques and a national AmLaw 100 firm.
